  • Scott Avery President

      A real estate industry veteran since 1977, Scott Avery has a long and varied career. From sales management to project development, training, marketing and more, Mr. Avery has been a featured speaker and trainer on a variety of industry topics throughout his career. He has authored courses on communication as a sales tool, financial applications in branch management, building and developing a sales career, recruiting, the successful interview, and more.

      Mr. Avery has served as a real estate industry spokesman for the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) and as a panelist for industry trade shows. His insight into the real estate industry is invaluable in helping AveryHess, Realtors® grow as a company.

      Mr. Avery co-founded AveryHess, Realtors® with David Hess in 1992, sharing a commitment to building a company in which professional Real Estate sales associates could flourish by partnering with a progressive and innovative company thereby providing exemplary customer service to the consumer.   • David (Dave) Hess Vice President

      AveryHess, Realtors® has all of the services a person needs to buy, sell and finance any type of real estate throughout the United States.

      Since we started AveryHess in 1992, our goal has been to build the kind of firm that we ourselves would want to do business with and work in. We want our customers to receive the best possible service and results possible. No excuses. People are busy. They expect their AveryHess sales associate to do the job for them in the most complete and professional manner possible.

  • Katja Hom Vice President - Business Development

      Katja is overseeing several revenue departments for AveryHess, Realtors® and serves as a point of contact to all of the agents and staff. Her responsibilities include overseeing the Property Management Department, managing the e-lead Division, building vendor relations, and general business development. She brings a broad spectrum of experience that ranges from International Sales and Marketing to Customer Service Relations. Prior to joining AveryHess, Ms. Hom worked with the German Government, Fairfax County Government and The Washington Post Foreign Desk, where she had been the main liaison for several aspects of the business.

      Ms. Hom is currently serving on the Standard Forms Committee at the Northern Virginia Realtor Board and graduated from the NVAR Leadership Institute in 2012.

      Hailing originally from Berlin, Ms. Hom has lived in the DC area for over 20 years and currently resides in McLean.

  • JoAnn Cheng Chief Financial Officer

      JoAnn Cheng has been in real estate accounting for over 28 years and has been with AveryHess for a decade. She oversees all accounting and human resource functions and handles both tax reporting and year-end compilation preparation. JoAnn is also a Certified Public Accountant, has seven years of experience in property management, and has 11 years of experience in assisted living and nursing home management.

  • Adam Walsh Director of Information Technology

      A seasoned industry veteran, Adam Walsh has been immersed in the IT sector for well over a decade. As Director of Information Technology, Mr. Walsh manages interoffice communications among the numerous AveryHess offices, ensures the various LANs and WANs function at peak performance, and provides personalized IT and technology support for our sales associates and clients.

  • Kim Hoffman Director of Relocation

      Kim Hoffman joined AveryHess, Realtors® in November of 2014. She has an extensive background in both relocation and real estate. She grew up in the real estate industry, helping her mother in their family-owned brokerage and later their appraisal company. Kim started her career in the relocation industry in 2004 and has worked in every aspect of the business, from accounting to household goods to all aspects of real estate and management. At Allegiance Relocation, she initially was one of only 4 employees and helped to develop the company from the ground up. Kim spent over 8 years with Allegiance, eventually earning the title of Director of Operations as the company grew to 50 people. For the next year, Kim worked as a relocation Realtor®. Her focus was relocating government clients, and she has extensive knowledge of their benefit programs. Kim is a licensed agent in Virginia and also has received her CRP designation from the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council (ERC) and her GDS designation from the Relocation Directors Council.

      As the Relocation Director, Kim is the main point of contact for our corporate and third party relocation clients. As a member of the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council (ERC) she provides destination services for buyer transferees, home marketing assistance to seller transferees, home sale buyout & buyer value evaluations, as well as inventory management for corporate employees moving in and out of the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

  • Andrew Lander Director of Marketing

      Traversing the digital landscape with intentional marketing, Andrew comes to AveryHess specializing in SEO, online advertising, email marketing, social media, analytics, content creation, and lead generation. Along with his duties overseeing the look and feel of AveryHess in both digital and print media, as Director of Marketing, Andrew manages the department that oversees all of the company's web properties, signs and other promotional materials, internal and external company communication, Teal for Good charity, and anything else with the company brand/logo on it.

      Prior to AveryHess, Andrew was a DC area marketing professional satisfying the needs of local, small businesses by growing their reputation and customer base online. He did this with a small firm before opening up his own independent consultancy eponymously dubbed Local Lander.

      A DC native, he holds both an MA in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University and a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Michigan.
